Amazon products that i've been loving lately....

I've got some goodies for you today!

Here are a few amazon products that i've been absolutely LOVING!!

Crochet

I guess it's been about a year since I bought my first crochet hook. I must say, it's SO much easier than knitting. But the only downside is that I have to LOOK at what I'm doing. (As opposed to knitting... I could just feel the stitches with my fingers and could read the pattern that way). 

A few days ago the last book in The Discovery of Witches series came out and I downloaded the audio book and grabbed my crochet hook and got to work! 

I finished the baby blanket for my cousin and a zig zag blanket for me. Then I saw a cute granny square blanket on Pinterest that I HAD to try... 

So, needless to say... My house hasn't had a proper cleaning in a couple of weeks. 

Birthday Blankets

Last year when Titus turned 3 I asked him what he wanted for his birthday. He said "a monster truck blanket". So, I made this:

Well, in keeping with tradition, this year Sol turns 3. So I asked him what kind of blanket HE wanted. To which he replies "green". Uh. Ok. 

So I set out to make something like this:

I'd say it turned out pretty ok. I learned a lot about what NOT to do next time. 

I really hope he likes it. I will give it to him on his birthday, in June.

I always wait till the last minute..

.. To whip out some handmade thing for my friends. 

My dear friend Jesse and his lovely wife, Amber, are expecting my future daughter-in-law very very soon. So I had to come up with something extra special for them!

It's a hand knit bunny lovie and a penguin pillow! I just love how soft they turned out. 

I really hope baby Abby LOVES them. :)

I'm working on Solomon's 3rd birthday present. He said he wanted a "green blanket". So I'm doing a cheating cathedral window quilt as you go blanket. 

At least I have Harry Potter to keep me company

Since it's freezing in Texas..

.. and since Neville destuffed his old doggie bed. I thought I would just MAKE another one. 

I kept all of the stuffing from the former bed (for no real reason) and kept it laying around in two garbage bags. 

I bought two super inexpensive towels from target and sewed up three of the sides with a zigzag stitch. 

Then I stuffed the old stuffing into it and sewed up the other end!

Easy as pie. And it only cost $8. 

It's beginning to look a lot like...

The poor pine trees just can't take it. All of the wet/freezing conditions we are having! (Mind you, the day before it was 80 degrees outside). 

Brrr. Too cold for this cat.
